Fruits, vegetables, and other perishable commodities are very susceptible to contamination, spoilage, and physical damage, making regulatory frameworks a critical necessity in ensuring quality from farm to customer. These regulations are implemented on a national and worldwide scale, reflecting the growing consumer demand for safe, traceable, and high-quality produce. Domestically, countries establish food safety standards, packaging guidelines, and transportation regulations to prevent postharvest losses and ensure public health. International trade regulations, on the other hand, focus on harmonizing standards for exporters and importers to facilitate smooth cross-border movement of fresh produce.

This new book, Regulatory Framework for Postharvest Horticultural Fresh Produce and Trade Practices, highlights the international-, regional-, and national-level guidelines that focus on food safety, quality standards, policies, trade protocols, food labeling, and environmental sustainability.

Specialists in the field critically explore various facets of postharvest horticultural fresh produce and trade practice, looking at market-linked quality certification systems for horticultural produce trade, the food safety and quality aspects of horticultural produce and their regulatory frameworks, policies and regulations for postharvest processing of fresh horticultural produce, genetically modified good labeling and its impact on market demand, and the global regulatory barriers and the role of WTO and EU in the horticultural market.

Serving as a comprehensive source for researchers, businesses, and faculty and students studying food safety, trade, and agricultural supply chains, the book bridges the domains of horticulture, regulatory policy, international trade, and food safety. The insights provided here will assist producers in achieving market entry requirements while avoiding trade barriers.
